"Lighting I Like" cinematography series on YouTube

8 years, 5 months ago - Neil Oseman

Hi Shooters,
I thought some of you might be interested in Lighting I Like, a series of short YouTube videos I've produced. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXNANp44SZRNNv1JugSjFhzP5-MtLXbi5
In each episode I briefly discuss the lighting in a scene from a well-known film or TV show. They would make ideal viewing for an aspiring DP, or a director or perhaps a head of another department looking to increase their awareness of lighting.
During this series I consider the low-key, shadowy look of Marvel's DAREDEVIL; the use of practical candles in RIPPER STREET; an interesting night exterior shot in the first HARRY POTTER film; a cold, muted sequence from THE CROWN; the use of colour contrast in LIFE ON MARS; and simulating sunrise in OUTLANDER.
I hope you enjoy the series!
Neil

Thanks Mark, and thanks also for your YouTube comment. I've read that article in Definition since posting the video! It was very interesting.
