INDEXLocation for a short film - Therapists office/lounge
6 years ago - Harriet Dunning
Hi All,
I'm looking for a location which could double up as a therapists office/lounge for a short film, that will be going into production from the end of August.
I would be looking to hire the space for a couple of weekends in August, and would like to keep costs low if possible.
Preferably a space with a bookcase and some character but not essential.
Please let me know of any suggestions, i'd be very grateful!
Harriet

Assuming you're in London, I proceed...
I once filmed in a small room that was available for hire at OneSpace in Kidbrooke. It does look like a therapist's office / lounge. It was dirt cheap. I think it was £10 per hour, or £50 for the whole day.
They had larger rooms available too.
The centre was, and perhaps still is, run by evangelists or something, and if they think your film somehow promotes worship of the devil, they will turn you down. Or at least that was the case four years back when I hired a room there.
I just took a quick look at their website but it doesn't seem to show the smallest room. If you wish, I could email you some photos of the small room.

Yes, I am London based. Thats great thanks Alwyne, I'll have a look at their website. Looking for a medium-ish size to fit around 4 cast and 6 crew.
Thanks for the heads up. If I go for it.. I won't mention the devil ;)

I forgot to provide a link, although I'm sure you would have found it yourself. Anyway, here it is - http://www.onespacekidbrooke.org.uk/regular-hire/
The room they call The Lounge is not the smaller room that I hired for years back.

ps It's not just devil worship they would frown upon. Any theme to the film that they consider unchristian might get you turned down. For instance, I don't suppose a film that favourably features gay marriage would receive filming permission.

Hi Harriet
We are always up for collaboration,> I ' not sure what we have is of interest. we are a green screen studio in Hampshire (www.Apex-Studios.co.uk) which offer as a dry hire( We do other backgrounds as well) Check us out and see if we could be of help to you. We could lay our hands on props if you just wanted to configure the space as an office set ( desks , book case chairs etc) if that helps
Best regards
dave (dave@apex-studios.co.uk)
