Location- Village cricket ground with cottages around

11 years ago - Michael Perks

Looking for a village cricket ground with house(s)/cottage(s) around it in the SE.
Seeking a village cricket ground where character can move from sitting at the boundary and be clearly seen going in to a cottage.
The village cricket grounds I have looked at in Buckinghamshire have either hedges or fences around them, or no visible houses/cottages.

Any ideas?

The village of Firle near Lewes would be good! It's a creative community too so they might be warm to the idea.

Try Ickwell in Bedfordshire. It is close to the A1 so easy to access

Proper ground, or just a pitch marked out on some grass?

If the latter, you need a decent sized village green, on which a cricket club plays.

Frampton is lovely at this time of year.

It's in Essex (almost Suffolk) but the village of Wickham St Pauls has a cricket pitch on the village green which is surrounded by houses including a thatched cottage which might suit what you are looking for - and a village pub. Also, it's the cricket club's centenary this year.

There's a very good reason cottages are not close to cricket pitches. Those red balls, hard, and they travel pretty fast. Glass windows nearby, not a good plan. You could fake it but the audience may think "Coo, those cottages are awfully close to the game". Sounds like a rewrite.
