Synopsis
Frustrated writer Charles and his pal Eddie live a hand-to-mouth existence in a sleazy seaside caravan park. Nothing works properly and, as the toilet block is closed for the winter, they have to use the loos in the local pub. To add to their problems, the park manager wants them out for non-payment of site charges. Their only entertainment consists of a failing black and white TV, an ancient video recorder and Eddie’s wrestling tapes which drive Charles bonkers as he cannot concentrate on writing what he hopes will be his blockbuster film script.
A furious thunderstorm hits the caravan park one night and a lightning strike on the caravan fries the TV and video recorder. Charles notices that the video, set to record that coming Saturday, has been triggered by the storm. They run the machine to discover it still works, has taped the end of two lottery shows and are stunned to find the machine has somehow recorded the future. They now have the correct lottery numbers for two weeks running.
The caravan is feverishly ransacked for cash and they hot foot to the newsagents to buy lottery tickets. The shopkeeper keys in the wrong numbers but is unable to rectify the situation and Eddie is despatched to fetch their last hope, his jar of pennies.
In a showroom the boys caress and coo over a fabulous car but the salesman cools his ardour when he realises his customers are counting on a lottery win.
The boys await a multi-million pound payout, but it is delayed whilst the lottery board investigate, suspicious about two successive wins. Their big cheque finally arrives and the lads go on the bender down the pub. At midnight after collapsing back in their bunks, an even bigger storm strikes the caravan park. There is another direct lightning strike and the video recorder jumps into life. On the tape this time is a stock market report three days hence showing a huge surge in the indexes.
In the pub, they confide their secret to their city-slicker pal, Harry, who suggests a complicated investment scheme to multiply their money by a factor of ten.
It works brilliantly but Harry doesn’t get their money out fast enough and loses it all as the market reverses.
Eddie is devastated. Charles is livid and storms off. But when he returns he tells Eddie all is well. Though unaware the old video recorder has stopped working completely, he has sold it to Harry for £50,000.

Newly Qualified
From the moment that diminutive, newly-qualified teacher (Ellie) wakes on the morning of her interview at the school, we sense that nothing is going to go right for her on this day as she
…falls out of bed,
…inadvertently brushes her teeth with anti-fungal cream,
…trips over while trying to get the other foot into her tights while standing and
…(worse of all) makes a wrong decision as to which one of two outfits she will wear that day
Unaware that Ellie is dressed in the same colours as the school uniform, the penny doesn’t drop even when mistaken for a pupil by a vociferous teacher Ian who bellows at her to ‘hurry up.’
Later, Ellie’s interview is a great success. Elated, the headteacher leads her to the staffroom but is inadvertently called away. Sat in the staffroom with a cup of tea, Ian and another teacher arrive and mistaking Ellie for a pupil – do a tag-team on her as they berate and humiliate her. Tearful, Ellie is unable to defend herself, even when they instruct another teacher to take her out to the playground and place her on the wall to think about her actions.
Seconds after Ellie is led out, the headteacher arrives looking for her. The teachers stare at one another open-mouthed. Meanwhile, outside on the wall, Ellie sobs into a tissue with her nose to the wall as she stands in a line of children.
If you're interested I have a friend who would hit the part and love to be in it?

WAVES : A SHORT DRAMA FILM by Nicholas Prosser
SUBJECT : The story of a bond between father and daughter.
LOGLINE
When emergency strikes, we explore a father’s emotional instincts towards his daughter. In two separate time periods, on a visit to an offshore island, we observe his despair and his guilt when faced with an emergency. But which visit is real and which is in Sean’s imagination?
DURATION 15 - 20 Minutes (approximately)
SCRIPT LENGTH - 28 Scenes (some very short)
STORY SYNOPSIS
Sean Evans arrives at a busy fishing harbour to enquire about an off-shore island. Though discouraged to visit it by locals, he persists in rowing a hired boat across to the island, watched intently from the cliff by the imposing figure of the island’s solitary resident - Hugh Price. Sean is on a mission and determinedly chases across the island to arrive at a beach. What will he find there?
At another time, on this same beach, Sean relaxes in an island cove, watching his daughter take a swim in the sea. Sean becomes aware that he is being watched by an onlooker who signals to him with gesticulating arms. Sean responds to this imposing figure of Hugh Price, who is silently warning him of danger. Sean soon realises that his daughter is in difficulty and that he must protect her. Immediately he goes into emergency mode to respond to the challenge of saving his daughter.
Mysteriously, we are left questioning how the two narratives are linked and indeed if the tragedy was a reality or just in Sean’s imagination.

ROOT OF ALL EVIL : A SHORT DRAMA FILM by Nicholas Prosser
SUBJECT / LOGLINE - The good deed of an innocent child presents her with an unusual dilemma. When her attempts to be charitable fail, she struggles to avoid the principal of “finders keepers” until she has an idea, which has a surprising result. The story is told from the point of view of the principal character, a teenage girl called Tess, to follow her observations and experiences. With only two short scenes containing scripted dialogue, the narrative of the film, over 23 scenes, is predominately related by visual communication.
ESTIMATED DURATION 20 Minutes : SCRIPT LENGTH 23 Scenes & 13 Pages
N.B. Many scenes are very short & some pages contain plural scenes.
STORY SYNOPSIS
This story takes place over two days.
On her way home from school, a teenager called Tess observes a rich man drop an envelope as he leaves his chauffeur driven car to enter his residence. When Tess attempts to return the envelope to its owner, he shuts the door in her face. When she tries to insert the envelope through the letterbox, she is deterred from doing so by a dog on the other side of the door who frightens Tess with aggressive loud barking as it launches at the door. Not sure what to do with the envelope, she opens it to discover a large sum of money. Spotting a policeman in the distance, Tess approaches him to resolve her dilemma. However, because he is busily occupied with breaking up a physical squabble between two individuals, he is unwilling to listen to her and tells her to move on. Understandably, she now feels confused and somewhat dejected. What should she do with her find?
Tess attempts to donate her find to a charity shop but without success. On a walk through the town centre, she is tempted to spend at least some of the money she has acquired on with the material world that most teenage girls covet, e.g. bling jewellery, handbags, clothes etc.
Then, in a bookshop window, she reads a poster display of the ten commandments and her eye goes to “THOU SHALT NO STEAL.” Now Feeling guilty and confused, Tess hurries away. As she passes a betting shop on her way home, she observes the same Rich Man walking from his chauffur driven car into the shop. Tess also passes some homeless rough sleepers, camped out on the pavement but, on this occasion, she takes no notice of them.
At home she decides to hide her precious find in a safe place in her bedroom and postpones any further action until the next day.
On her school commute the next day, Tess observes an antagonistic exchange between the Rich Man and his chauffeur, who is dismissed with a large envelope, before he angrily drives the car away. Later, we see the chauffeur at a car sales forecourt, handing over the envelope for the Rich Man’s car to be sold. Other observations on Tess’s walk home from school are removal men emptying The Rich Man’s house of furniture and possessions, a church poster with the suggestion to give to the poor, a queue of hungry people outside a Food Bank and, once more, the rough sleepers she saw the day before. This time these homeless individuals really seem to strike a chord and make an impact on Tess, leading to her making an important decision. She goes home to retrieve the large sum of money to distribute to the homeless, sleeping rough. However, after she returns to equally distribute her find, she is confronted by a surprise encounter.

THE CAMERA NEVER LIES : A SHORT DRAMA FILM by Nicholas Prosser
SUBJECT - Behaviour Perception
LOGLINE
This is the story about the illusion of appearance, signals of communication and attitudes to and from authority. This film demonstrates how surface appearances should not be relied upon by those responsible for justice and security.
DURATION - Approx. 8 minutes : SCRIPT LENGTH - 9 Scenes & 19 Pages
STORY SYNOPSIS
Two very different characters have the same mission but with very different and contrasting reasons. One is a mother with her toddler son taking family snaps on her mobile phone to send to the proud father serving in the forces in the far away war zone of Afghanistan. Supposedly, the other is a true professional intent on his craft and seriously dedicated to achieve the very best results for whichever outlet will demand the best price for his photographs.
Each sets out for the day to digitally capture a high profile landmark and tourist attraction in the heart of the city of London. We live in times when personal freedom is often in conflict with the seemingly necessary security requirements imposed on individuals visiting such sites, in the interest of protecting such celebrated landmarks such as government buildings or sites of historic interest.
Though there appears to be no potential threat from either of our two characters, we witness how the authorities operate a routine and seemingly necessary procedure. We follow how police officers approach their duties towards our two characters and how our characters respond. What are the factors that can prompt action from the law?
We see how these two characters behave when their freedom of choice is threatened. Their attitudes towards authority take different courses and in one case, causing undesirable results, regardless of whether there is clear evidence that an offence has been committed. Contrastingly, friendly and cooperative behaviour to authority in the other case has a positive outcome, despite a well concealed evil intention.
Essentially this is a story about appearances, assumptions and how we read the signals from each other. If these judgements are miscalculated, the consequences could be serious, unpredictable, and even dangerous.

Peter, a middle-aged businessman brings his wife, Maggie to stay in a top London hotel intending to reveal he wants a separation. There's only one problem, Maggie already knows, and just who's Carol?
At a prestigious hotel near the South Bank in central London, there is a penthouse suite with panoramic views across the city including the London Eye and Tower Bridge. Maggie, an attractive lady in her mid-forties walks to the window and looks out across the city. A porter deposits suitcases in the middle of the suite’s main room. Peter, a suited man in his early fifties, hands the porter a note and the porter leaves. Maggie stretches out on a chaise longue. Peter walks off into an adjacent bathroom.
It’s pretty clear from their conversation that they know each other well and are married. They marvel at the luxuriousness of the suite, but Maggie is concerned about the expense. Maggie is unsure of the purpose of this trip – it is completely out of the norm.
Maggie goes to fill a bath and begins questioning Peter about his late nights. She changes into a bathrobe and invites Peter into the bathroom. When Peter takes her robe off, he is shocked to find a tattoo with the name ‘Carol’ on it. Maggie admits she is a friend.
Maggie reveals that she knows about Peter’s affair with Carol – a co-worker at his company. Peter initially admits it’s a fling but nothing serious. They return to the main room in the suite. Maggie reveals that she knows his true intention for taking her on this trip was to announce their separation.
Peter realises that the game is up and faced with the thought of losing both Carol and Maggie, changes his mind about separating and pleads with Maggie that he’ll change his ways. Maggie is not interested and claims that Carol is not just a friend, but is her lover.
Maggie announces she is taking a holiday with Carol and that she will be filing for a divorce. Peter is left confused and unconvinced, contemplating the revelations of this new scenario.

Hi Annlin,
I have a short film script that might be of interest (the story is there to be built out into a feature too if that is of interest, and I have a rough breakdown of the full story & structure).
TITLE: Brown-eyed girl
GENRE: Dark comedy-drama with surreal elements
LOGLINE: After her mum's death, one woman has to decide if she's going to give in to anger and deliver the eulogy she wants to, or if she is going to toe the line and uphold the family secrets.
SYNOPSIS: Both her parents have blue eyes, and she has brown eyes - a genetic impossibility that leads to the unravelling of a secret. That the person she thought was her dad, actually isn’t. She learns this after her mum’s death, and before the funeral. Her mum has planned the funeral down to the very last detail - and in a final act of control - has insisted that it's her daughter who will give the eulogy. She now understands why her mum was so controlling - it was the only way to keep that shameful secret, quiet.
Sat in church before the funeral, the daughter wonders if she will deliver the eulogy, and wonders what she will say. The appearance of her younger, angry, teenage self in the church, tries to persuade her to deliver the angry eulogy the mum deserves.
The film explores family secrets, anger, change and forgiveness, through moments of comedy, drama and surrealism.
Let me know if you'd be interested in reading the script. :)
Thanks,
Stevie

Hi Annlin. I'm a produced, award-winning screenwriter and I have a script that might be right for you. It was awarded a £5k grant from Wandsworth Film Office (although the film didn't get produced).
TITLE: 'To The Quick'
A busy, built-up part of London. Fast flowing arteries of traffic. Angry engines, horns, bass rumble. We drift across this tumult towards a grand block of Georgian flats, to a window in an upper floor flat. Passing through the thick modern glass into the flat, the noise of the city drops to a murmur...
The sound of a key turning in the lock of a solid front door signals the arrival of the landlord MR CRANSTON, a man in his late sixties, rather formally dressed, but with a kindly manner. He is accompanied by ADAM, 20s, casually dressed; a prospective tenant. The flat is large, with high ceilings and polished oak floors. The elegant architecture is complemented by stylish furnishings. Adam is stunned by the property, it’s far grander than the estate agent had lead him to believe; and affordable too. Just. Adam is eager to impress that he is a trustworthy and responsible individual, who would be a quiet and well-behaved tenant. Cranston is suitably convinced and offers him the lease. Adam excitedly hands over a month’s rent… but there has been a misunderstanding. The rent is considerably higher than Adam was lead to believe. Adam breaks down in tears, and confides in Cranston that he is in terrible trouble. He urgently needs to find a place to live, or he will lose his job. Rent is extortionate throughout the city. He is on the verge of becoming homeless.
Cranston is touched by Adam’s plight. He gives a long moment’s thought and suggests a rather unusual deal, one that would be mutually beneficial. Cranston offers Adam the flat rent free for ten months… if Adam lets him pull out one of his fingernails. For Cranston is a sadomasochist. And whilst it is easy to find those who will dish out pain, it is considerably harder to find volunteers to accept it. One fingernail; for almost a year of freedom. Adam thinks long and hard. He accepts. Cranston draws up a rather unique contract, and gives Adam very strict instruction to read it carefully. Adam, however, does not.
The ‘procedure’ is carried out in one of Cranston’s many luxurious, sound-proofed apartments. The bookcases that line the flat are fully stocked; hundreds of books on law, many crumbling with age. Someone has been studying the subject for a very long time. Adam is strapped to a specially adapted wooden chair. Cranston then produces an antique pedicure kit - and a special pair of pliers - and begins. The procedure is agony for Adam, testing the sound-proof qualities of the room to their limits, but creates a deep and profound ecstasy in Cranston. The fingernail removed, Adam demands to be freed.
“But,” replies Cranston, “There are nine nails left.”
Adam, it appears, should have read the contract after all.
All pleas and threats fall on deaf ears. A contract is a contract insists Cranston. And begins to sing: “This little piggy went to market… this little piggy stayed home…”
