Looking for a short script to Produce or Collaborate

10 years, 4 months ago - Michael Christofis

Hi everyone.

I am a London based newly starting filmmaker and looking for a short script to develop and send to festivals.
I am interested in real life stories with strong narrative structure, that explore the human condition and cause the viewers to rethink their expectations. A story that can be enigmatic that will make you question your self and want to try to change the world we live in.
Running time 5-20mins.
I welcome all genres except sic-fi, comedy and romance.

You can email me with your ideas on:

Best Regards

Michael Christofis

I suggest it's worth looking at the archives for the script pitch bulletin Michael

No worries :) Just a suggestion, if you're fairly new to production, try looking for very short short films. The longer the film, the more work, the higher the cost to do well, but also the more festivals you exclude yourself from. If you can find a script with one or two location based and a running length of maybe 7 minutes, you can shoot in a weekend and most festivals will consider it at that length. 20 minutes, and nobody will be interested!

Shooting in a weekend is also good - you can get favours for a weekend, any longer and you start eating into peoples paid or leisure time, so need better recompense. If you're fairly fresh, 3 minutes a day is plenty of script to get through too!

Hi
Thank you for your message. I am really sorry but I am not interested in this genre, is not something that I am familiar with.
I wish you all the best, and thank you again.
Michael

Hi Paddy
Thank you for your message and your very appreciated input on my hunt for a short script.
I really appreciated. I have now put some more details on what I'm looking for. I am realativly new on this website and it will take me a little while to find my way around.
I would also have a look at the archives as you've suggested and I welcome any other suggestions that you may have.
All the best
Michael

Hi Michael - are you still looking for scripts? I've got a short you may be interested with explores gender stereotypes/humanity called 'Snatches' which is about 10-15 minutes long. It's drama/thriller.

I have now changed the running time of the script that I'm looking for.
The think is that I have been collaborating with another producer on a micro budget feature film for a whole year, I have done a lot of pre-production work on it, with money for private investors ready, but unfortunately it all broke out just before we were ready to begin. Now I am eager to continue from where I've left of, but this time with a short script, and produce it by myself. I now it maybe too long to do 20mins but I have a backing from an investor to help me to it financially. And if anything smaller come on my way and I like it, I will proceed.

Gah! Sorry, premature post!

I suggest looking at the script pitch bulletins archive, I've seen some great ideas in there and that means you can mentally filter them before soliciting just people mailing you half a dozen things that may fit your loose brief! Or if you are soliciting widely, maybe post some guidelines for what would make a suitable or unsuitable script based on your experience and finances. For instance-

Wanted, short scripts between 3-8pp which explore themes of self-reflection. They must be set in at most 3 locations (ideally indoor) and not require vfx/stunts. Shorts I've enjoyed in the past include (link, link and link). I've got a small/modest/fair production budget which is why I want to focus on story and character.

Or something like that - otherwise you may find a lot of 'shorts' with 25' runtimes, you spread yourself too thinly, no festival will touch them anyway, or set in the Royal Albert Hall with a full audience, or set in 1974 and requiring periods locations, props and costumes, or unsuitable for other reasons.
