Looking for a two week work experience placement in June

8 years, 7 months ago - Cedar D. Wolf

My daughter wishes to do her mandatory work experience in the UK, because it is easier for her to work in English (She is currently attending a German state school and not too happy about it.). She would like to make good use of the two weeks of work experience, because she is struggling to decide what she wants to study later.
At the moment she is very keen on getting into matte painting or character design, but has little to no experience working with the software used.

She is teaching herself Blender at the moment and Adobe Illustrator, but it is slow going thanks to a very busy schedule.
What she could bring to a company or freelancer willing to take her under her/his wing for two weeks would be excellent translation/interpreting skills (ENG/GER) as well as voice over experience and good drawing skills as well as a willingness to work hard.

Having had several students complete their work experience with us, I understand that taking on a young person with no experience can be more work than help, but I always found the experience quite gratifying in the long run.

So if anyone in the following fields would be willing to consider a 17-year old piggy-back-riding for a couple of weeks in June, please do be in touch:

Matte Painting
3D Animation
Character/Creature Design
Storyboarding

alternatively:

Videography
Journalism

My daughter would be more than happy to send out a formal application and she would have posted to the bulletin herself, however, she is not a member of SP, so I had to post this. Shecould stay with family in Golders Green during her work experience or in Swansea and commute to Cardiff.

You can get in touch via casting@go-cmp.de. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Cheers,
Cedar

Hi Cedar, I am trying to write at the moment and hope to shoot in June. I am not sure what can offer and what your daughter is looking for but I speak German as liver & studied there & have been an intern in past so happy to give a young person experience if can unless she finds something more relevant. Perhaps we could message nearer the time to see how I have progressed. Danke Nathalie

Hi Nathalie,
thank you for the kind reply. I am sure just being involved in the process and learning new things will be thrilling for her. She has helped out on a couple of sets before, anything from helping with the catering to taking care of our dog performer.
She is switching schools this coming term, so the date may or may not change a bit, but as she will be switching to a public school, we will be able to excuse her, if required. So I would be happy to message once you have a better picture.

Having studied here, your German must be quite good. Been north or south? We are from the north.
Cheers,
Cedar
