INDEXLooking for Extras 'Football Fans' for a 60 second ad!
9 years, 8 months ago - Katherine Porter
Can anyone advise on hiring extras or suggest anyone that would be interested in staring in a short ad?
We need enthusiastic extras who are willing to sing, chant, dance. Interest in or experience of sporting fandom would be helpful, but is by no means a requirement. There are no restrictions on gender, race, or age.
The role is expenses only, but refreshments, and a copy of the video will be supplied and if the video is successful, it will be screened in front of 80,000 fans at the Westfalenstadion in January 2016.
The winning video will be screened at the Wesfalenstadion (in front of 80,000 fans!) and shared on the club's social media channels, so it's a great opportunity for some exposure. A good opportunity for extra footage for your showreels, too, should you need it.
Any advice that anyone can offer is welcomed.

I tried this once Paddy. Both club chairman and owner were not interested; this after their Press Officer ignored the request. Could not even post to their Fan Forum as it was heavily moderated by their paranoid Press Officer.
But yes, it would appear to be the right route, but depends upon how genial their staff are as to co-operating.

Can the club itself provide some fans? It'll mean a lot more to them than to a bunch of strangers to give up a day! Perhaps if the club can dress it up as a package with a free stadium tour, I'll bet you get plenty!

Seems strange that they want and will show a video of non-fans pretending to be fans, but won't let you use those fans at their own venue. I think I must be missing something!

I think they regard it as brand protection, here in the UK anyways. OP might have more luck in the wider world of the EU.
Also the UK (lower league's especially) PRs tend to be from the junior ranks and extremely inexperienced in the wider world of broadcasting and film. Anything that is "not my idea..." is avoided as they believe they should have thought of it first and own the idea outright - self-survival.
Outcome: I went to a non-league semi pro/amatuer team. Plenty of those around the UK and Europe. They were delighted to help.
