Hi, I’m Callum, a Manchester-based filmmaker, and in 2025 I’m working to grow 97 Films, a production company I’m building, entirely from the ground up. My goal for this year is to create a positive community of driven, like-minded creatives who want to grow together. I’m looking to collaborate with filmmakers and specialists who are passionate about their craft, motivated by the idea of sharpening their skills, and excited to create work we can all be proud of.


For now, the focus is on commercial spec projects. Within a 30, 60, or 90-second commercial spot, there’s so much opportunity to explore storytelling, cinematography, emotion, and creativity. I truly believe these short-form pieces are a rewarding challenge for everyone involved, and I’m looking to connect with people who are passionate about their chosen specialism and driven by the chance to push their skills through high-end, collaborative commercial projects.


What I’m Working On
I’m focused on creating cinematic, visually striking commercial spec projects, including:
* Sports brands: Think Nike, On Running, Adidas, and Under Armour.
* Narrative Commercials: Story-driven, emotionally resonant pieces. Think Dove or Macmillan.
* Fashion commercials: Narratively driven spots that combine storytelling and style.
* Music video-style commercials: Collaborations with musicians and artists to create something unique. I recently worked with a London-based saxophonist, and I’d love to develop more projects like this.

While the current focus is on commercial work, the long-term vision for 97 Films is to expand into narrative films and documentaries, and become a well established Manchester production company. For now, it’s all about building the community—connecting with talented, passionate people who want to grow together.


Who I’m Looking For
* DPs: If you’re skilled in high-end lighting and cinematography but need the right projects to elevate your reel, I’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re self-taught, fresh out of uni, an experienced DP, or a videographer looking to push your craft and become more intentional, let’s see what we can create together.
* Producers: If you’re interested in managing commercial spec projects—from developing ideas to handling bookings, outreach, casting, and budgets—please reach out. This is an area where I’m looking for real support.
* Crew Members: Whether you’re an AD, runner, gaffer, sound recordist, or have another skill to contribute, I’d love to hear from you. If you’re passionate about being on set, let’s connect.
* Post-Production Talent: Talented editors, colourists, and sound designers who want exciting projects to expand their portfolios.
* BTS Photographers/Videographers: If you’re into capturing the energy and creativity of a set through behind-the-scenes visuals, get in touch.
* Actors: I’m looking for performers who can bring energy, emotion, and storytelling to these commercial spots.

Why Collaborate?
To be upfront: 97 Films is in its early stages, and I’m putting myself out there in complete vulnerability to connect with people who share my vision and passion for the art form. For now, to be clear these projects are unpaid spec work designed to give everyone involved a chance to grow their skills, build portfolios, and create work that opens doors to bigger, paid opportunities.

I completely understand the need to be paid for time and skills, I will never expect people to work on projects for free if I’m making money from it. I’m someone with complete honesty and integrity in the way I lead my life and as soon as budgets are involved, everyone will be fairly compensated. But before that can happen, the portfolio and contacts needs to be built, and that is my aim through this endeavour.

I’ve personally invested in equipment, including a Sony FX3, Sigma Art Primes, a DJI Ronin RS4, and a Molus COB light, and more which I’ll contribute to every project. The way I see it, the more we pool our gear, expertise, and energy, the better chance we’ll have to create great projects —and eventually attract paid opportunities.
