INDEXLooking to cast a voice-over English male actor. Where should I start?
11 years, 6 months ago - Alexandra Queen
Hello Shooters!
Hope everyone is very well... :)
I'm currently looking to cast a voice-over English male actor for my short film. Any advice where should I start from? I know that I can look for it through Shooting People, but are there any other sources?
Kind regards,
Alexandra!!!

Hi Alexandra,
I'd love you to check out my reels for consideration. You can hear them at www.garethrichardson.com - I also have home recording equipment should you need any samples done?
Best Wishes
Gareth Richardson

Hey Alexandra. I have 17years in the business, my voice is soft RP and I have the equipment/studio to send you what you need if my voice is suitable. My showreel gives a flavour and my website has a voice clip, but that is a mancunian sad tale character snippet that sounds nothing like the real me!

Hi Alexandra. I can recommend someone very professional to you. However, if you advertise on Shooting People and ask for actors/voice artists to send you their voice reels you will have a good idea of what they can do. JJ

Like Jack and Darren suggest depends what sort of voice you want Alexandra. You can take a look at my showreel if you've got the time but I doubt I'm what you're looking for - Mac McKenna showreel 2013

Hi Alexandra.
I'd recommend you put a casting out on Shooting People and ask people to send you a link to their voice reel, being as specific as possible about accent, age etc. You could also have a look at other casting websites such as Casting Call Pro and Voice123, but perhaps a better route might be to contact voice over agents directly and explain what you are looking for. Depending on how long you would need the actor for, the agents might have some performers on their books that would do it for low/no fee (try Q Voice, WAM voices, Articulate Voices, Soho Voices). Also, if you have a well-known actor in mind, you could always contact their agent and see if there is any chance of them working with you - it's always a long shot, but if it's only a morning in a recording studio it might be a possibility.
I hope you find someone soon - I'm sure you'll get great responses from Shooting People alone,
All the best
Jack

Many voice artists can work remotely and have the kit to record and send you high quality files. If you send the script and any timing notes (or record your own version for timings they can base theirs on) you can get a whole worldful of options
