Hi Maddie,
I spent time in a residential drug rehab, 12 months, followed by another few months in a re-entry phase, quite a while ago now. I’m not sure I would classify myself as “in recovery” in the traditional sense. That part of my life feels like another lifetime. But the experience gave me lasting insight into the psychological processes and challenges of recovery, and the deeper human vulnerability behind addiction.
I’m a filmmaker and writer, currently working on several projects that explore identity, transformation, and the long shadow of formative experiences. I’d be interested to hear more about what you’re developing, especially if it’s focused on challenging stigma through lived experience and honest storytelling.
