Looking to make a High Quality Showreel.

10 years, 5 months ago - Guy Remy

Hello everyone

I am a recent graduate from Lamda and i am looking to make a showreel,i would ideally like my showreel to be of very good quality (Picture/sound/lighting) i am not looking for anything complicated ,but rather something simple and tastefully done .
I have already a few clips i want to ad to the overall final showreel but i need more of them!
So if anyone has advise on where to look for, or if any film directors would be interested in working collaboratively to shooting scenes I or short film that might fit I am all ears!

Thanks
G

A showreel is really about showing your talents of what you have done and are capable of. Use the existing footage you have as a starting point and make a reel. It's always going to be slow when you have only just graduated but if you apply for roles for cast on SP and CastingCallPro as suggested by Pat, and other sites, then over the next year you'll build a solid reel.

The alternative is you shoot spoof scenes with a small but competent crew to jump up the ladder somewhat quicker. However, you'll need a reasonable budget to do this. If you are in that position, then IM me and I'll hook you up with what you need to get a great sizzle reel.

Hi Guy

I can't help on making a show-reel for you but I can recommend how to get more material! I'm a returning actress and I joined CastingCallPro as a free member which means that I can only apply for unpaid work. I have now done 12 short films through the 'unpaid' castings on their site for the various film schools, Universities and Indie film companies that put out postings every day in order to get myself some current show-reel material. They do cover expenses. A few of the films have been disappointing - poor lighting, sound, editing etc but some of them have been really great experiences. As with everything in this industry, we live and learn but I would totally recommend joining. I now have some really good footage and am in the process of getting my show-reel together. Be selective about which Film Schools you work with and only choose the well written scripts but there is masses of work out there for your age range :-)
