Low budget location help - large country houses

6 years, 12 months ago - Zoe Cunningham

Hi

I'm currently looking for low budget location options for two feature films.

For the first I am looking for a large(ish) modern house with a kitchen-diner and (ideally) pool. The house should look like the house of a successful doctor and his wife (they have no children).

The second film is set in a large country estate with stables. If you know of such a place that would be happy to let us film - ideal! Assuming not, we are looking to break the film down into sections that can be shot in different locations. As such we are looking for:
A large manor house with lands and a gate for exterior shots
An old house to shoot interiors
A stable with horse(s) for the horse scenes
An outhouse that has been (/can be) converted to an office

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks
Zoe

Hi Zoe,
I used a cottage I found though Airbnb. The owner was pleased as she didn’t have to change the beds!

Hi Zoe.

I have a very large house in west Sussex, modern , large kitchen with a breakfast room attached, large lounge with swimming pool if required, a large dining room that can seat 14 people comfortably , and enough room to have camera and lights as well my top floor is an office, there is also a small library

Have been in television for many years, was BBC news cameraman , in a past life still making documentaries.

Would love to get involved, we have several spare bedrooms if you need them.

The best way is to come and visit me

Regards Keith

Hi Zoe,
I also have a large house in Kent, Orpington nearest station , zone 6 of London but we are in the country. Its a period house, with 1920 interiors, Kent farmhouse style, that is tile hung, extensive grounds, swimming pool barns and over the garage we have accommodation that could easily be used as an office. We can also sleep 4 over there. Clean, with bathroom and kitchen.

No stables sadly but my friend up the road has them and might be willing to let you use them. We also have large wooden gates but not the type I imagine you are looking for but 7 doors down are the huge iron gates you might need. I have a one drive file of pics and will try to get the gates and stables photo'd today too. Also a director/producer so if you want help willing to muck in.

I've used a large manor house in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire called "Manor by the Lake" which has entrance gates leading into a gravelled courtyard to the main house entrance. Very accommodating as we shot a music-video: In Your Arms at Christmas inside as well. http://www.greatbritishentertainment.co.uk - contact the Manor on 01242 245071

Thanks Dave! That's a great location. I will forward it on to the director and give them a bell.

Jane - that sounds amazing! If you could send me some pictures that would be perfect - my email is zoe@zoefcunningham.com or let me know yours and I'll ping you a message over.
