making a 48 hour film challenge global

10 years, 2 months ago - Tom Middleton

WE run Shortfilm48 (http://shortfilm48.com/) which is in its third year. This year we have opened it up to a potential global audience, with a Vimeo submission process. we have some fantastic prizes (around £10ks worth of goodies), an amazing line up of judges, but the sign up is very slow.. Does anyone have any recommendations for ways of sending it global.. or ramping up the sign up?

Wouldn't hurt to contact the admins of EosHD.com, Cinema5D.com, NoFilmSchool.com and RedSharkNews.com - also post on DVXUser.com, Blackmagic Design forums and IndieTalk.com

You might also get in touch with the following forums / networking sites in Germany:
www.regie.de
www.crew-united.com
www.filmforum.de
www.filmforum-bremen.de

Also local funding commissions are generally helpful:
www.nordmedia.de (Lower Saxony and Bremen)
www.ffhsh.de (Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein)
www.filmstiftung.de (North Rhine Westphalia)
www.medienboard.de (Berlin and Brandenburg)
http://www.fff-bayern.de/ (Bavaria)
http://www.hessische-filmfoerderung.de/de/default.aspx (Hesse)
http://www.mdm-online.de/index.php?id=filmcommission (Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia)

There are, of course, also the smaller "Filmbüros" all over Germany. They handle smalle amounts of money and supoort local talent in many differnet ways. They do, however, usually, not operate their sites in English.

If you get in touch with the ones listed above, they will be able to put you in touch with the right people or even spread the word for you.

In Liberia there is a small film funding department at the Univesity of Monrovia. They can only be found on facebook, but they have a film division and any kind of organised filmmaking in Liberia usually goes through that division.

Hope this helps,

Cedar
