Messages not working in SP?

My messages aren't sending in SP and I'm worried that also means I'm not receiving them too! Has anyone experienced this before and how did you get around it?

Hi Aaron,

Sorry to hear you've been having some difficulties. I just ran some tests on the messaging system between your account and another, and everything was working well. I could send a message and receive it from your account.
