INDEXmini cassette player
6 years, 1 month ago - Johnny Burke
Hi,
I'm making a documentary and have some micro cassettes, (labelled MC60) but no way to play them, or make them digital. Does anyone have a player for these types of cassettes that I could borrow/hire for a day? Or know where I might get hold of one? I'm based in London.
Many thanks
Johnny

21 hits on eBay for a search for "microcassette player" - https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=microcassette+player&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=microcassette+player&_sacat=0
Presumably one manufacturer's player will play other manufacturer's cassettes.

Hi Johnny, London-based Stanleys offers loads of transfer services, including "Transfer from an audio micro cassette to all formats". See their web site at https://www.stanleysonline.co.uk/servcategories.php
All the best, Tony

you can X-fer them to your computer if you know how to use Garage Band or some other sound editing software. There are probably many ways to do this but here's what I do with standard cassette recordings. If you have an audio interface device (such as Focusrite Scarlett) or any cheap interface hardware, Just buy a cheap cable - male to male (standard 1/4 inch jack on one end and whatever jack your micro-cassette recorder uses on the other end - perhaps mini-jack) and import it into Garage Band or any sound editing software. You can then EQ the recording, edit it and output it as an mp3 or whatever file you want.

Thanks Tony, Alwyne and Steve for the various answers/suggestions and eBay link. I managed to buy one off embay for £20. Thanks again. Johnny
