INDEXMusical Romp, or taut thriller?

I have 2 feature length scripts before me and they are both darned good! Which one stands the best chance of making it to the wide screen in a cinema near you?
The Musical Romp needs LOTS of music, lots of recording and synching, and there will be difficult scenes.
The taut thriller is low key and much easier to make despite the two cars exploding, and the period flash backs, but somehow ends up with a body count in the 20s.
I know which one I would rather go and see, But which one is most likely to be picked up by the distributors?
What do you think?

There is no dancing in the music one, and I should mention that the music is largely classical - the most emotional and exciting and engaging of the classical world. I am chatting with members of amateur orchestras to see what might be possible there.

Pre 1960 is sill in copyright, don't kid yourself! If your heart is in musicals, go for an original score :) sounds fun, wish you well!

Will you be expecting to use the music played by your amateurs? Or will you use existing recordings? If the former, you have a whole set of headaches and really need to talk to a record engineer/producer (are they still called that?) about practicalities. If the latter, easier.
Though, that said, if I fancy a musical movie, esp if it's being called a romp, I want and expect dancing.

Thanks Paddy. The last time I needed to use old recordings the copyright on a recording was for 50 years. Since I know you know your stuff, I went and looked it up. It is now 70 years, as of September 2011. This is as well as the normal copyright on music, which lasts for 70 years after the death of the composer.
Which is good for the musicians, but hard on us - recording quality before 1940 wasn't so good - even though I do have a player that will play 78.
Thanks again for all your help

How confident do you feel re execution? The musical def has the biggest potential, but you have no margin for error.

Thank you all for these useful responses. The good thing about classical music is that there are excellent players/singers who for one reason or other are pursuing other careers, but are still willing to perform on occasion. And Marlom, you are dead right about a romp and dancing Maybe it should read 'Passionate music-driven Drama' .
Paddy, I am not good at finding funding so my budget is tiny and I am going to have to work hard on high value for low budget. I am looking for thrilling music recorded before 1960, so copyright free. I am also talking with composers eager to provide modern music.
My heart goes with the musical one, my head thanks you all for your helpful input with all my heart,

The thriller sounds an easier sell, but it will all come down to the final result. Both sound moderately expensive to shoot, will you find finance? If so, the financiers would pretty much know what kind of film they wanted to back, your presales will tell you which horse to back
