Private Investment for 2nd feature film

6 months, 2 weeks ago - Michael J. Long

Hi,

I am looking for advice, guidance, Stories on how filmmakers have managed to gain private investment for their projects.

Basically where do you find people with money who are looking to invest in film?

You need to ask around to friends and relatives, people who are close to you and trust you.
Entrepreneurs are the best, as they might be willing to take a gamble on a potentially good investment opportunity!

Thank you!

Hi Michael,

I'm on my second feature and I would turn down private investment if offered, having done that on my first!

The bottom line is that with private investment, the odds are stacked that you will lose money and the investor will make your life hell, hound you, fall out with you and it can drag on many years.

I am now only seeking professional film finance, where they take your kidneys, but at least there are avenues and structures in place where they can gamble on a return on their money.

Please feel free to email me anytime.
