INDEXProblems with imdb...
11 years, 5 months ago - Joe Wilkes
I have a film credit on IMDB, and I also have a profile, yet I can't merge the two. So nobody will ever know it was me that did the work (that I'm really pleased to have done!)
I don't think I've ever come across such a useless site when it comes to navigation, and that's not hyperbole! Does anyone have similar experience, or can help?
Thanks
Joe

Yeah, I get this problem all the time since for some reason my "profile" on IMDB has been named "Nathan D. Blair" but I'm never credited with my middle initial, so I always have to merge every film credit to my real account... which takes weeks-months to update. It's such a silly system they've created and of course I'm sure it bogs them down... I really don't understand why there are no competing sites who keep databases of films... why is IMDB still so popular? And why do a lot of producers insist on looking at IMDB profiles when they're always such a mess??

I agree you cannot speak with them and they can MONTHS to update. I had this problem with one of my my actresses who had been cloned. You cannot "merge" but just add the credit to the one and then delete the credit from the other, so all your credits are in only one. You just have to take care when adding say an actor that you tick the right box when it asks if this is a new function for this person. If you tick the wrong box, it will clone.

I tried this on an unrelated issue when I first subscribed - 2 months to reply. They said something like "check out the FAQ section". And it's the only company in the world that seems not to use telephones! Not very good customer service?

Thanks for replies, and sorry for slow response! I've merged )or tried to!) accounts - only time will tell if it actually works….

It seems IMDb does have a monopoly and it has become deeply entrenched in the minds of agents and producers. As to efficiency, perhaps Amazon, who now owns it, could crack a whip with their 'list mums'. This is why I just posted a notice asking for opinions on the Black List which build up to be a competitor but seems more like an option to Inktip. Perhaps the big agents and producers could also complain it they realise that IMDb is not up to date due to their tardiness.
