Producer looking for director & writer to apply to Future Takes scheme

1 month ago - Margaret Milner Schmueck

Hi Shooters,
I am a Midlands based producer with a track record of producing award winning short films and animations commissioned by a variety of funding bodies. I have also produced the independent horror/ comedy feature film INBRED.
I would be interested to apply for the Future Takes scheme, which commissions up to 6 x high budget short films. So I'm looking for a director and a writer who have already had some success in their career(s), and looking to make more ambitious work which is vital for their career progression.
The details of the scheme are here;
https://www.bfi.org.uk/get-funding-support/create-films-tv-or-new-formats-storytelling/future-takes
Feel free to check out my links and get in touch to if this could be you.
Many thanks,
Regards,
Margaret Milner Schmueck

Hi Margaret
I have a couple of short scripts that might be of interest. JOMO - The Joy of Missing Out was nominated for Best Short Screenplay at this year's Toronto Nollywood International Film Festival and FORGOTTEN was selected for this year's Manchester Lift-Off Film Festival. Both would be high budget short films. Here's a little information about each:
JOMO The Joy Of Missing Out LOGLINE:
Sixteen-year-old NATHANIEL, a talented singer-songwriter, must choose between performing for music industry giants or attending his cousin MAYA’s bat mitzvah.
‘FORGOTTEN,’ is the story of thirty-six-year-old GEMMA whose identity as a promising architect is
threatened by the arrival of her first child. So, when on the hottest day of the year, she leaves her
baby sleeping in the car, it’s not only Gemma who questions her worth as a mother.

Subject: Future Takes – Short Film Collaboration

Dear Margaret,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Hamid Alehamoudi, an Iranian-born, UK-based filmmaker and writer. I began my career in Iran with the company Naghsh Noor, where I produced short films and documentaries, and for several years I served as Director of the Iranian Youth Cinema Association in Khuzestan. Since moving to the UK six years ago, I have been focusing on script development and filmmaking, including directing a promotional documentary.

I have recently completed a short film script entitled Lost at Sea, a poetic drama about grief, migration and resilience. The story follows the parallel lives of an elderly English widow and a young Iranian refugee mother who lost her children during a sea crossing. Their brief encounter becomes a moment of unexpected compassion and fragile hope.

I believe this project could align strongly with the ambitions of the Future Takes scheme, as it combines a socially engaged theme with cinematic and emotional depth. I am eager to collaborate with a producer who shares a vision for films that resonate both artistically and socially, and I would be delighted to explore the possibility of working with you.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be happy to send the script or further details if you are interested.

Warm regards,
Hamid Alehamoudi
