INDEXPub scene for short film in London
9 years, 9 months ago - Veronika Reichenberger
Hi,
We are shooting a short film in London and we are looking for a pub that would allow us to film for 3 hours. The rest of the film will be shot in Ealing.
Any pub/place recommendations? Preferably around North West/West London?
Thank you,
Veronika

The Cavendish Arms is out West and isn't always open daytimes. I doubt it'll be free, because every filmmaker in London has wanted to shoot in a pub, and all the favours are used up, but they were very accommodating for us. As pubs are on their financial knees , so many closing, etc., also look at places that seem to be struggling a little and they will be grateful for the bit of cash and I suggest you agree to get them to cater too :-)

Veronika, try the Lord Southampton in Gospel Oak. It's real old London pub, unchanged since the 70's. We shot a scene for our feature, Us & Them, there last July. We took over the pub for 10 hours with a big crew and the landlady was very amenable. And it was cheap. You would need to organise your own catering though. Good luck!

If it's only for a few hours and depending on the size of the pub you could possibly get away with doing it for free. All the landlord would want is for you to buy drinks and food. Your only problem is background noise as the pub will be in use. If it's a quiet local pub, the morning should be a better bet. That's how I'd approach it but as I said it depends on needs

Hi Veronika, I used the William IV pub on Shepherdess Walk on a Saturday, from about 12-4 for about £75 -it was an hourly charge, I cant quite remember the rate. We had the whole pub - it was closed to the public, and even brought in our own food which saved money. They struggle for business on a Saturday and were very accommodating, let us move some funiture. The road was quite quiet.
