Quite location in Central London streets

2 years, 4 months ago - Tumurtogtokh Davaakhuu

Hi,

I'm looking for quite street area in Central London for shooting video portraint of a model. Since it is collaborative work, I have no budget. And I couldn't pick a good location yet. Not to blame on Covid lockdowns, I haven't explored London good enough yet.

What are good public locations that show London aesthetic?

Many thanks,
Tumurtogtokh

Central London or the Square Mile which constitutes the City of London is a small area. So, just step out and take a stroll and use the map on your phone to make sure you cover as much as you can and you'll probably find a few quiet spots, especially at the weekend if you explore the back streets and keep away from the heavily commercial streets.

Expanding on Divina's contribution, yes the City area is quiet on weekends. Early on Sunday mornings, its side-streets etc are deserted. Moreover, there are a few small parks within the area. On the fringe of the city area there is a small park built around a ruined church called St Dunstan's in the East and if you get there early on a Sunday (I think the gates open at 8am) you may even have the space to yourself for a while. Wedding photographers tend to turn up later in the day.

Here is the website for St Dunstan's in the East - https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/city-gardens/find-a-garden/st-dunstan-in-the-east-church-garden

Hi Tumurtogtokh,

I've gotten lucky filming on Kelly Street in Kentish Town (lots of wedding photography going on there too). If you're looking for a row of colourful houses, it's a great alternative to filming in busier parts of town with the same aesthetic. Plus it's off the main road so it's really quiet.

If you're looking for something 'old looking', I've also filmed on Camden Mews which is a very quiet cobbled road in... Camden (of course).

They're a short walk apart so might be worth checking out :)

Try shooting very early on a Sunday morning, before 8:00am ... I have done this a few times with a small crew and that usually works well although you may contend with security across the streets.
