INDEXRadio Microphones - will they work in Finland?
11 years, 11 months ago - Michael Lebor
Does any brilliant mind out there know if the old 800Mhz Sennheiser G3 Radio Microphones will work in Finland...? I don't think the Finnish G4 network has taken up the frequency yet but I can't afford to guess as I'm filming there in a week and need to get kit ready...
I have two sets of now useless radio mics that don't work in the UK (and are illegal to use) because of 4G network.
Any thoughts or pointers towards useful websites would be great.
Thanks!

Can you just expect them to be unusableand arrange for local hires? Not expensive usually.

Hi,
You should be allowed to use that frequency to the end of this year 2013, with a licence. (Source: Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA))
Application forms can be found here: http://www.ficora.fi/en/index/viestintavirasto/asiakastiedotteet/radiotaajuudetjalaitteet/2011/P_14.html

Heh heh no worries. Do be aware though if you need to license the frequencies it may still be cheaper to do a local hire, as the hire company will have their own licensed frequencies which you will use as a part of the deal.

Generally speaking, 863-865MHz is licence-free all over the EU. But why not ask Sennheiser?

Thanks Soile. sounds like some great local knowledge. Thanks Paddy but I'd rather save the money and buy my mum something nice for her birthday :)
