The last short I worked on as DOP was £100 a day, that was when everyone on the crew, regardless of grade, got £100 a day. That also included being paid for a recce and a preproduction meeting. I would never ask any of my regular crew to work for less than that. It all depends on the project, who is doing it, do I owe anyone a favour, how long the shoot is for etc. I've worked on shorts for higher than that, but never lower (except back in the day when I worked on expenses only jobs). Obviously, the higher the rate you offer, the higher the skill level of the people you will attract.

I agree with Mark. £100 a day with everybody being paid the same but allow additional days for those that will need prep/wrap time. People don't generally work on shorts for the money but the experience or because it's to work on a project with a particular person or because it's a fabulous idea. Make sure you cover expenses on top of the fee so that nobody is out of pocket ... and allow sufficient in your budget for good catering. A half day shoot doesn't really count - it's a day. It's highly unlikely anyone is going to be able to work the other half of that day. All the best with the application.

With any "public body" funding, it's always worth going over the small print to see if they mention any Minimum Wage requirements.
