Removing dust

11 years, 1 month ago - Richard Unger

I have some video footage that has aquired some dust marks, I do not have the ability to remove them, can anyone help. The total amount of footage is 2.7 gig @ 1080, just two spots in the same place on all the videos.

Don't know how to attach a pic to this thread?

There is a plug-in that does exactly this in FCP http://www.chv-plugins.com/cms/Fx-Script/Repair-collection/Dead-Pixel.php Also AfterEffects has a built-in wire-removal plug-in as does Motion. Could also use Mocha in AE. Simplest is the CHV plug-in unless you know these other programs. I've used it.

Maybe if you post a frame of the offending dust marks then we can see what is/isn't possible.

Upload an image to any site and post a link.
If it's a couple of constant spots, you can probably just average out nearby pixels to compensate depending on how bad it is. It'll mean a couple of soft areas, but not as bad as dust!
