Scrip Coverage Pro Bono

10 years, 3 months ago - Peter Spencer

For those who have contacted me to 'correct' me on STAR WARS - in that the 'original' screenplay has Luke appearing much earlier...

Luke is not in ANY of the original drafts as the original protagonist was Mace Windu. Luke came much later and was at first known as STARKILLER.

And the consultants are not preaching old unproduced drafts, they are referencing the FILM. And that drives me mad - nothing wrong with teaching great films, nothing wrong with teaching structure, just don't lecture me on setting up the world and the hero, his flaw and the inciting incident that sets him off on his journey in the first ten pages, and then reference a 40 year old film where the hero appears in the 17th minute and his 'inciting incident' is the death of his aunt and uncle around 25 minutes.

My real point is, someone with no stated experience or credits is offering coverage - 8+ pages of notes for £200 - and given that his website goes into great depth about how to get noticed - I need to stand out from the rest in a crowded marketplace - I'm asking him to show what unique thing he has to offer, what makes HIM stand out in a crowded marketplace. Why should I choose him over other consultants? I feel like my twitter timeline is sometimes full of people trying to 'sell permission' for me to be a writer. Not for me, thank you very much. I'm much too busy....
