Searching for London based filmmakers looking to privately screen their Shorts

5 years, 6 months ago - Bhavik C. Pankhania

Hi all,

I'm on the hunt for London based filmmakers who have recently finished their Short film and are now considering a private screening for friends/family/industry.

I'm looking to screen my own Short in the next month or so; however, I thought it would be nicer to present more than just one film to the audience (with a Q&A for each film). The filmmakers would also get more out of it, as they would be able to network with the other teams (hence London based filmmakers).

Depending on how many films I end up with, I'm looking to secure a decent sized cinema (100-120 seats) in an accessible London location.

Film Requirements:

- Less than 15mins
- Predominately live action
- Any genre/theme

Other than that, I'm basically looking for VERY HIGH QUALITY SHORTS. This doesn't mean huge budgets and star cast - substance is far more important. I'm looking for film that move an audience, change their emotional/psychological state after having viewed it...

This is NOT a film festival - no prizes or laurels - just an opportunity to share your work, test out the film on a big screen and hopefully meet some other talented individuals.

You can find more information about me and my short on: www.bhavikcpankhania.com

If you are interested, please message me with a brief synopsis and link to a screener.

Thank you for your time.

Hello Bhavik,

I'd interested in showing my short 'Curiosity'. It's very london film that I completed a while back that hasn't been shown anywhere.

Curiosity’ tells the story of two young people, Ash and Beth who move in together in a stranger’s house off the Colombia Road. Ash, an impetuous romantic, proposes before they’re even unpacked, and while they should be getting to know each other discovers another obsession that fascinates him more than his fiancée: a locked safe. His fascination becomes obsession, with consequences for them both.

It was shot in East End of London with a promising newcomers Anna Demetriou ('Viking Destiny') and Nikhil Palmer ('Trollied') in the two-handed cast. Cinematography is by Sebastian Barraclough (A Camera ‘Christopher Robin, ‘Game of Thrones’) and editing by Julian Rodd (‘Absolutely Anything’, editorial consultant on the Oscar-nominated ‘Theeb’). It was directed by my, a very experienced screenwriter as my first film and produced by John Cooney, Paul Dornan and Michael Weston and was the the first production of Row 34 Films.

It runs at 14 mins 19 and was shot on an Arriflex and graded at the Jack Cardiff suite at Molinare.

Hey Bhavik,

Hope you're well. Not long finished a short so your post caught my eye.

I'm one half of a Directing Duo, although this short was made just to freshen up our reel, network a bit and for fun more than anything so not sure if it meets your requirements but if you feel it does, more than happy to jump onboard.

It can be viewed here - https://vimeo.com/383754051/0ffe46f478

Thanks,

Lee
