INDEXSeeking collaborative co-producer/production consultant/crowd funding campaign ally
9 years, 1 month ago - Ray Brady
I’m looking for a either a collaborative production consultant or co-producer (not looking for you to bring your own money to the project...really!) someone who in their free time can help me plan and pull-off a successful crowd funding campaign to raise a small amount of funding to finish an indie feature, possibly later perhaps run a second small campaign to raise further funds to pay for international film festival submissions and for deliverables when eventually selling the completed film, alternatively we could use rewards of copies of the completed film if we decide to simply market and sell the film ourselves.
What's the project? I started making a portmanteau style indie horror film, made up of seven tales of horror (inspired by the excellent recent Argentinean feature film "Wild Tales") no boring clunky interlinking narrative but just fade to black and up on the another story. What makes them different, well...there's no vampires, zombies or any other cliches included, the short films are smart and psychological thematically, inspired by David Cronenberg, who doesn't do any more, what were once his unique genre specialty, horror films for intelligent adults, I know, I know, everyone targets the teen market, but I've gone off at a tangent and decided to make something that would have amused me when I was a teen. I'm prepping to shoot the fifth of the seven around mid September, till now I haven't had a producer, just been scrapping the money together myself and shooting low budget, collaborative shoots when I managed to pull it enough together to pay for food, expenses and consumables. Have been shooting 4K, so the quality is top end digital.
What am I thinking? I really would like some help, once again I'm not looking for you to commit any money, I'm merely looking for an alliance. Quite happy to give you a large share of whatever we manage to generate in eventual sales but in all honesty I don’t expect the film to make much money, I’m really hoping to find a future partner to use this project to attract finance for future projects. But it would be great to have a partner come on board as I'm understandably finding it difficult to get people to take me seriously as a one man band.
Anyway, you may ask why I'm making this film. Well, I really wanted to make a commercial film to attempt to give my career a kick start as in all honesty no one is knocking on my door anymore. Would like to use this project to hopefully attract 250-500K budget for our next project and to begin to plan that right now. Why horror: I had some success early in my career with a low budget horror feature and I still have a bit of a rep and a few contacts in that genre. Horror fans love difference and originality, you don't need stars even, just ensure you push the right buttons, give them something new and they will give you all the free publicity through social media that you could ask for.
So...please check out my body of work: imdb.com/name/nm0002916/ and then if you fancy knowing more please do get in touch by emailing me directly.

Hi Ray,
This is the brief version, SP mobile site are my last attempt!
Maybe use one or more of your existing films to create some kind of following before crowd funding - it's easier to get money with a following already existing.
The modular nature of the project means you can offer more exciting 'rewards' than the usual signed script, etc. I'd look at iterative funding as the project allows it, instead of 'big bang'
My 2p, happy to discuss sometime
