INDEXSheffield Meetmarket help
10 years, 2 months ago - Cindy Martin
Hello fellow filmmakers - quick question to anyone who's ever been through the Sheffield Meetmarket process. My film has been selected to take part in the Meetmarket in a few weeks and as this is my first film and first Meetmarket, what should I do? How should I prepare? What questions will they ask me? What should I bring?
Please have a look here at the trailer we did specifically for Sheffield Meetmarket:

Many thanks!

Hi Lucas!
Thank you indeed for taking the time out to answer my questions. It's my first time going to the Meetmarket so there's lots of questions I have!
All of the info sounds great indeed. My mobile is 07913 947 445 and yes please I would love to meet up with music docs producers. Let's have a coffee/tea/drink when we're both there!
All the best
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Interesting project!
I would first research the comm eds you're going to meet. What are their channels about, what are they looking for in the content, who's their audience and what content duration they're interested in. You could have a different pitch for different comm ed claiming it's their cup of tea and you got exactly that.
The common question often asked is; why do you think this content is good for our audiences/channel.Describe in a few words what's the doc about and how are you going to go about it. Is it strong character based, narrative, observational etc.
Also which production company are you going to work with. It would be good if it is a recognisable name that the channel worked with before. Breakdown of budget, dates for development, production and distribution would also be crucial to know in advance. I'm there from the 6th so maybe meet you to congratulate in person. All the very best with the project! Most important to infect your commissioners with your passion for the film. And if all makes sense and you can keep it interesting for 52min then I guess you have a deal! Good luck with it!
Send us a txt if you'd like to meet with few producers of music docs. We'll all around but maybe find a few minutes to exchange thoughts over a cuppa.
