INDEXShooting a tiny scene in a hospital room!
11 years ago - Stanislava Buevich
Dear Shooters,
I am shooting a very low budget film and we need a hospital location in or around London… really a hospital bed to shoot for about an hour in. We've contacted some studios and they are asking for about 400£ per hour now this is not something we can afford. Do any of you by any chance have experience shooting in a hospital… thank you…

Hello Stanislava, I played a nurse in a short film recently. We shot it in London South Bank University, Keyworth 2 Building. Good luck!

Try finding a day hospital (we used Bolingbroke, think it's closed now) and asking if you can use a room at the weekend? It won't be free, but the NHS can always use the money and they'll likely do a deal if you are offering reasonable money.

Hi Stanislava,
We found it quite quick and easy to mock up a hospital bed etc. in a plain room to look like the real thing. You will just need to shoot at the right angles to make it look right. Failing that try your local doctors surgery. Mark

Look for a local college or Uni that has courses in the medical field. For example, the University of South Wales has a mockup facility that looks identical to a real hospital ward, including corridors with relevant signs, nursing stations and a fully realised ward. I'm sure there must be something similar in London
