Shooting at a hospital

13 years, 3 months ago - Lauris Beinerts

Does anyone have experience using hospitals as locations for filming?

I am working on a short film where the action would takes place in a hospital (no need to see other patients, doctors, medical machinery, etc., but it should be clear the character is waiting at a hospital).

And I am now starting to get a bit stressed: hospitals don't appear in my perception to be the best locations for shooting. If they are busy - film crew is not what you would like to have there on top, and if they are not working - they are important enough not to let a film crew in for a small budget short film.

Would it make sense to approach GP practices that are closed over weekend? Or some not-used hospital wings in local hospitals? Or is it better to forget about shooting in a hospital, and look for something that could pass for one?

Hopefully someone could share her/his experience :)

There is an empty one in Newham, or at least there was a year ago. Check with the Newham Film Office.
