Shooting at a petrol station?

5 years, 5 months ago - Laurie Barraclough

Afternoon all! Has anyone on here ever shot a smaller project at a petrol station? On the lookout for a film-friendly petrol station for a couple of hours that wouldn't cost a huge amount/be expected to be hired out entirely.

Back in the 1980s, and it's not there any more - but main issue was sorting insurance, so if you get that drafted before you approach location they might be more likely to agree!

The insurance company will insist on doing a health & safety risk assessment. Also, since you want a working facility, you should expect to shoot directly after the working day is over.

We shot a film scene at a petrol station on the Isle of Wight. We shot on Sunday when they were closed and were fully insured. It’s worth asking a privately owned one close to your location as they may be accommodating. Hope you find somewhere.
