shooting close ups in low light

Any technical tips such as the best camera for detail and/or lighting tips to prevent the shots just looking murky would be helpful...thanks

have you tried a high quality long lens/telephoto so you can be physically much further away from the subjecy? lots of cameras have good low light ability but which one depends on your budget ...

You will need a top crew who know what they are doing as it's a very high end camera. But the results will blow you away.

There is also the Arri ALEXA which has upto 14 stops of dynamic range available...

Why would you want to use a longer lens when they have a narrower aperature? Surely a wider faster lens would be more beneficial allowing more light in, especially when it is at a premium?

I have seen the ARRIFLEX D-21 HD produce amazing results in only candle light...
