Short Film Campaign

3 years, 9 months ago - Meliz Houssein

Hello my Fellow Shooters,

I’m reaching out to you all as a fellow industry filmmaker for support as I'm sure all of you are aware of how difficult it is to be an independent filmmaker!

I am currently studying a masters in filmmaking, having written and soon to direct my first short film “Traces”. The film explores the multi-layered complexities of loss and is drawn from lived experience.

In recent years, the amalgamation of a series of continuous traumatic losses, including the traumatic loss of my father, caused an evidential deterioration in my mental health, spiralling me into a depression that was almost detrimental. The backlash of these losses caused unshakeable psychological distress that took a long time to bounce back from, and still remains a continuous battle to this day. This lived experience spurred me to start writing Traces with the intention of showcasing the longer-term effects loss can have upon the mind.

My aim with this narrative is to draw attention to an ongoing conversation surrounding mental health, this being the key motivation in the project’s thematic composition. The film will serve as my completed masters project, so I am turning to those who have impacted my journey so far to request help in its completion.

The team and I have just launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the amount needed to make the project happen and so I’d like to request your help.

Even a small donation would help in making this project a reality!

I’m aware and understand this may not always be feasible, but you can still help support this project by sharing the page to your social media platforms. Please also follow and share our official Instagram page - @traces_short_film

Thanks to you all for taking time out of your day!
