Just do your research carefully - there are a lot of soundalike festivals eg (city name) international film festival, (city name) internet film festival, (city name) independent film festival, (city name) independent internet film festival, etc etc. They count on people not knowing that (city name) has several events, one with credibility and lots riding the coat tails. You'll pay a fee to enter, then the only audience will be other short film makers who also paid a fee. Likely with an expensive gala dinner event too. I know a guy who set up a soundalike festival (the LA somethingorother online blah blah film festival) which he then entered, won, and used the laurels to sell the (bloody awful) DVD. Not cool, not unusual though. At least his 'festival' didn't go all out to solicit entries and entry fees and overpriced meals etc though.

So, it depends what you want from a festival - if you want to say 'screened at (city name)' the soundalike ones will do you fine, if you want to hand out with features producers, investors and financiers then go to Cannes and be shameless in your networking.

You could try sites like withoutabox but make sure you do your due diligence as to whether any particular festival is actually worth applying to!

Hi guys.

I'm travelling to Stockholm next month, so I'd like to know if there are any other Short Film Festivals (in the capital and across the country), apart from the International Short Film Festival in Stockholm, which has taken already place this month.
