Some lovely tributes for Jess Search

2 years ago - cath le couteur

Dear all, so many people have been in contact about the vital role Jess played in Shooting People. So many thanks for these.

I also wanted to post a lovely tribute from Lee Kern, who was a moderator for the bulletins, took SP's mobile cinema around the country for four weeks back in 2005, and is an amazing artist, director, comedian, illustrator and recent Oscar winning writer.

You can read his tribute here:

Here's another lovely article about Jess on Screen Daily, containing many other touching stories and thoughts:

And a brilliant personal account (plus why parties mattered) from film journalist, moderator and festival programmer, Wendy Mitchell: https://www.filmwendy.com/post/remembering-jess-search

I was in Margate yesterday and saw a lovely pane of glass with her face and dates on it, what a great memorial.

I met her once when she was commissioning at Channel 4, she commissioned a series from our prod co about a lesbian commune in Ayia Napa I think. She was really impressive, a pioneer and a snappy dresser.
