Sound Guy seeks Projects

1 year, 9 months ago - Matthew Mutton

Afternoon (or good morning whenever you stumble across this message)

I have been actively involved in sound projects for over 2 years now and I am looking for more opportunities to build up my portfolio.

I have studied at Spirit Studios in Manchester where I completed a 12 month course on Sound for Visual Media where I learned how to use Pro Tools, plugins, how to mix a session, dialogue editing, sound recording, foley, making the projects balance to broadcast and distribution standards, the works.

I am currently building up my portfolio of work and I have completed a few projects already, mainly from creatives I have met on shooting people, I have a Vimeo which I am looking to add more to with each project I complete. The version of Pro Tools I use only allows me to mix to Stereo, but I can always ask at my old college to see if I can use their facilities to mix to 5.1, etc if needed, but this is not a guarantee.

Many of the features I have worked on involve me making the audio usable by cleaning it up from any background noises and any natural sounds that come from the actor such as softening the “s” and removing pops, etc, mastering it to broadcast standards, creating an audio environment to help tell the story, foley SFX, mixing in the music and then delivering it to the client and working collaboratively with any changes that needed to be done. I have also done a film trailer, the audio for a stunt performers showreel (which won an award at a New York film festival, but I think it was more for the fight sequences and not the audio :) ), where I did the gore, punches, kicks and sound effects for 2 character and the gym location it was set in, this was a fun experiences as it was a blank canvas on which to work on and most recently a project for the National Trust, which was a fun way to work with nature.

I am currently in full time employment and I am a dad too, I do a majority of my project work on a Tuesday (my day off) and in the evenings when daddy duties are done for the day. I didn’t want to not mention this in case the project has a tight deadline and I cannot work to it.

If you feel that I can be of any use, please feel free to contact me, my email is mattmutton22@gmail.com

I also have a Vimeo which is a work in progress too - vimeo.com/user159063254

If im not successful, I wish you all the very best with the project and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when its finished!

Yours in film making, Matthew.

To any-and-all filmmakers,
I’ve worked with Matthew a number of times, he has been the sound man on all of my short films, and if scheduling allowed I would never hire anyone else.
He will absolutely be a benefit to any production, has always been extremely punctual, very professional, and an up-lifting presence on the set (he's also undefeated in wedding tent ladder matches, but I digress...).

Seriously though, I can't recommend Matthew highly enough.
