We had a short film campaign up and now the site is down with no information.

If they took money whilst insolvent, that's improper trading, can have very serious consequences for the directors.

This is really bad if that's all true and backers money is not passed onto the campaign organiser. I wonder how many other filmmakers have been affected by this?
Press seems very quiet on this, I would have thought more people would be talking about it, but even social media has been quiet about Sponsume, perhaps there were not many live campaigns running when the company folded?

First I've heard of it but had a quick look on twitter and the last they tweeted was 30 Jan, and others have tweeted that the company has ceased trading. When was the last time you could access the site?

Take no chances - tell people NOT to send money, and those that have, to go to their bank etc.
Unless Sponsume took specific steps to keep funder monies separate from corporate monies, if they are in trouble then funders monies may well be lost.
Personally, I suspect they are tits up.

yes , we have found the social media and general media very quiet, perhaps the reality of numbers of people using Sponsume was actually quite low. Still following up with the banks but there is no direct contact to Sponsume.com

A few weeks ago.Company's House still has Sponsume listed as a trading company. Sponsors had money leave their accounts, I've asked them to follow up with their banks and paypal. As the film hadn't met its target we are hoping that at the deadline date the money that might be in a holding account will return to the sponsors. Any other thoughts?
