INDEXStarting a documentary production company

Hello everyone,
I'm a videographer/editor based in London. All my life I've filmed and edited very different videos and documentaries. From wedding videos to documentaries on social issues.
I have dedicated the past years on music and now I want to have more credibility in the things I'm doing: I would like to start a company that will focus on lifestyle documentaries (musicians mostly but also contemporary artists).
I've always worked as freelancer or for small agencies and I know nothing about it.
I already know I'm not gonna make much money out of it at the beginning, but I don't care, I just want to deliver high quality products. So it's better to set up a video production company with a lawyer, business consultant, etc, or open a collective?
For me it's more important having good people around me, with ideas and passion than business men focus on money. But I guess you have to pass through the business thing if you wanna have some credibility.
I'm looking forwards to any advice.
Thanks

I love business. It's great, it's creative and it's fun.
But if you don't like biz part, esp if you don't like the sales, networking or other stuff then you need a sales focussed partner who thinks he can get you to gross 200K where you can only manage 20. Because without revenue, there's no money for the fun stuff.
Finding such people is hard, and there are many fakes. TBH your best option is a friend, with biz experience in another field who is looking to make a change, loves what you do and can manage without an income for the two years that needs to be set aside to do this properly.
And be sure you have enough capital for your needs BEFORE you start.
