INDEXSteampunk Short. I'm a Costume, Camera Operator, Cast and Writer short, but can do the rest

Hello there,
I've been an artist since I could hold a pencil, and have been told by clients, colleagues and passing admirers alike, that I'm a good one. I leave you to decide, whether or not this praise is merited, here https://www.artstation.com/summerpudding
For the longest time, I've wanted to make a connected story, of some of my steampunk inspired Victorian images, and insert live, period costumed actors, into the digital sets, on my Artstation page above. I have worked on major motions pictures in this capacity, including John Carter for Disney, World War Z for Paramount, and most recently, Thor: Love and Thunder, for Marvel Studios.
I propose a collaboration, whereby I design and create seamlessly integrated, painstakingly detailed digital set extensions, at a suitable location, comparatively untouched by the ravages of modernity. My matte painting, 3d modelling, texturing, and match moving skills can easily accommodate this, and cover or replace any niggling telltale signs that the location is present day.
Although they are only at the concept stage, the contents of the 'Victoriana' subfolder on my website, should give you a fair idea of the final aesthetic I have in mind https://www.artstation.com/summerpudding/albums/1536347
Recently, stupendous advances in AI, have made pulling a clean matte from a location shoot possible, without the need of blue or green screen. So I will not require this cumbersome part of the pipeline.
What I cannot do, is design or produce costumes, handle cameras with the required finesse, scout locations, write or act with much feeling.
This is where you come in.
I consider this short to be a small fish, to hopefully land a much bigger one, in a future I cannot yet predict. I can however, predict, that with my unwavering eye for originality and technical CG skills, acquired over many years, jaws will hit the floor.
If you are interested in collaborating with me, please let me know.
all the best

Hi Shona,
thank you for your interest. I'm based in the northwest, near Manchester, and envisaged the tale set there, some time in the 19th century.
I notice on your profile, that you are only interested in paid work. Unfortunately, my budget cannot stretch to this. This short is expressly designed to open a dialogue, with interested parties, in an as yet unrealised future, that will lead to something much bigger.
As such, I see it as a proof of concept, and a visually spectacular (I can do that bit with one hand tied bwhind my back) showreel highlight, for all involved.
Are you still interested?
Pete

Writer here. From the North (East) though currently in London. Fan of Tolkien. Interested in steampunk (not a cosplayer) and also Babbage/Lovelace early computing technology. Always trying to write about the North or northerners. Several short plays staged but only very basic short films made so far. Aiming to get my writing off the hard drive and in front of an audience. Cheers!

Hi Darren,
thanks for registering your interest in my project. I'm based in the northwest, a hop, skip and a jump from Manchester. I've always pictured this thing as being set there, hopefully with local talent in front of the camera, speaking the patter of the day.
A young woman goes to the spaceport, where a 20 year mission to the stars has returned, to meet the astronaut father she has not seen since she was a babe in arms, is one of many fragments I've had rattling around in my head, for years.
Perhaps you could play with these themes, and let me know how you find it? All I have is the jawdropping visuals, but nothing concrete, story wise, so feel free to embellish as you please.
I cannot afford to pay, though, and will not make any money off this proof of concept, either. I see this as bait, to reel in a bigger prize, with whichever moneyed investors are intrigued by it.
All the best
Pete
