INDEXStorage Solutions. For Filmmakers (you know you all worry about it!)

Can any one give an opinion on burning to Mdisk Bluray's over external drives or the cloud?
At present, I keep using external drives connected via a dock and replace when mirrored and full.
This has worked well, but I'm worried (at 3am) that ill wake up and find they have exploded or failed on me.
A friend of mine recomended backing up to large capacity Mdisk Blueray's as a permanent solution. Id like to know what mac users think.
Any thoughts most welcome.

Honestly, I'd rather back up to duplicate hard disks (with checksum verification) than to optical media. Yes, the M-DISCs look pretty durable but even today Blu-ray is a niche storage format (how many computers come with a Blu-ray drive?). 4k/8k will no doubt extend the life of the medium for a while but games and film are moving to 'the cloud' (*spit*) and optical media is steadily losing its relevance. USB hard disks will be easily readable for decades to come and some enterprise-class drives have 10 year+ warranties.

I almost hate to agree with you Andrew. Thanks for getting back to me. I think you are right. Lets hope the price of storage starts to drop a little...in our life time!

Having paid hundreds of pounds for a 20 MB hard disk for my Amiga way back when, I think we're doing pretty good on the price/storage ratio :D
