It depends - how close up do you want to get - do you need guts as well as gore? Rigor mortis or floppy and decaying? The head will be the most difficult. You can buy rabbit pelts (or trimming from fabric shops). Cut out a heart shape, rather larger than your mouse. Fold it down the centre fur side inside, and sew around the outer edge, leaving a gap at the wide end to turn it inside out. Carefully trim the fur as rabbit is rather long. Cut back a lot round the pointy end (the face) Shave a snippet and cut into a barbell type shape. Make two slits for where the ears should be (get your mouse pictures out!) put the barbell piece inside and poke the ends through the slits.to make ears, they'll stand up nicely because of the fold induced. The paws will be important. Mould them out of flymo, including the arms. Glue this into a fold of fur, and stitch the inside part to the right part of the torso. Stuff the body as tight or loose as you want. Sew the end up including a tail. Sew bead eyes on each side of the head, pulling tight threads through the head from one eye to the other so that they sink a little. When doused in blood and maybe mud? it will be surprisingly real. Try making some cloth ones first, Even fake fur will look good.
Good luck with it, Yen Rickeard

Or, rather more simply, pet shops that sell snakes also sell snake food - dead mice!

Check out a taxidermist. They tend to have stuff like that. If they're doing stuffed owls or other birds of prey they will inevitably have something to put in its talons like a dead mouse so they'll probably have a few laying about so to speak [sorry about bad pun]. Don't know where you're based but your local yellow pages should have taxidermists in your area. Good luck.

Yeah, try Taxidermists, but I suspect they will be expensive, not sure if it would work, but try popping in your local pet store and ask if you can......

If you go to a council rubbish dump you can probably get a real dead mouse!

I would try a prop shop or even a really good costume shop (can't recommend any though...). You never know what you might find when you find an Aladdin's Cave-type prop or costume shop. I managed to fake cutting a brain out of a head once with a latex head by cutting it open and removing all the stuffing, then filling it with fake blood and a fake brain. Then again, that was in New York and you can literally find anything there without hassle.

If all you need is the body, you should be able to find a rubber or latex mouse and stylise the guts effect with something like food-dyed porridge and fake blood...?

Have a look on Ebay too.
