INDEXTESTING 123. MeeTV Open Beta 1 MVP - New streaming and hosting platform live for the Shooting People Community to review. Welcome to www.meetv.net
3 years, 5 months ago - Matthew Smith
A couple of years ago I wrote a post on Shooting People regarding an idea I had to launch a media hosting and streaming platform centred around creatives. I received feedback from a few Shooters, thank you Paddy Robinson-Griffin, John Lubran and Marlom Tander. It was an ambitious statement but at the time I was overseeing content for a fully funded startup giving me a broad insight into the insane world of startups.
MeeTV is the result of that time and of the many years in the creative industries, the highs and lows and the oh so close. Back then when I was forever searching for a route to market (any market) much of my down time was spent searching for an option to the known media marketplace or the infinite noise of YouTube. A place to resonate, be seen, to be a part of and to possibly make an income based on my work and not an algorithm or commissioning editor.
The MeeTV proposition. One platform two environments;
Environment 1; A public facing player. Familiar in look, feel and function to Netflix, Amazon or Disney but given to the public for free.
Environment 2; An equal, single tier, creator only subscription community for showcasing, networking and monetising their content.Quality not quantity. Emerging talent that want to invest in themselves and something tangible. An audience that makes a difference by watching and engaging.
The net result? Disrupt the media industry by changing the rules and unite individual creatives and individual viewers.
Our first public offering will feature up to 100 creatives members and be supported by the product launch marketing campaign. I am not suggesting that all the content for MeeTV will come from the SP community but the SP community is always a good place to start.
As a foot note id just like to say that the Open Beta is the first approach to market. There is much more in development. As a beta it might have the odd bug or quirk that our team of developers work on as soon as reported. If you do have a problem that a page refresh won’t fix let us know and it will be fixed.
Kind Regards,
Matthew.
