Thankyou Colm McAuliffe

3 weeks, 2 days ago - cath le couteur

Folks, huge gratitude to Colm McAuliffe, our longtime helpdesk wizard, former Filmmakers Bulletin editor, and the man who has answered literally EVERY kind of Shooter query with humour and a patience that deserves its own Bafta.

For years, Colm has been the human behind our yellow SP curtain for a few hours every week, rescuing log-ins, lost scripts, broken links, midnight meltdowns, vat receipts, weird tech errors and all kinds of existential filmmaking crises. And always with kindness. Before this Colm was part of the wider SP team, shaping and helping define the community that SP became known for.

Beyond SP and in his main working life, Colm is a brilliant academic and film curator, an Irish writer and former film festival programmer. His current creative adventures currently include an upcoming book on the wild adventures of the BFI in the 1970s and 1980s (check it here: https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/film-in-theory-9781839026348/) AND, an exhibition in NYC on late night British television!

If you're in NY over the next two months, you must go and check it out: https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/film-in-theory-9781839026348/

But from me and Stu - Colm, thank you for the wit, the patience (the patience!), the gentle teasing, the warmth and the care you’ve shown this community for so many years.

Tons,
Cath
