A huge and heartfelt thank you to the brilliant Jim, our one full-time team member for the past four years, and the person who has held so much of SP together through some incredibly busy times.

Many of you will have come into contact with Jim. Their title was Community & Marketing Director, but honestly, that barely scratches the surface. Jim’s been everywhere for us, editing/shaping bulletins, designing for print and web, running socials, supporting filmmakers, programming and producing New Shoots events, juggling partners and sponsors, uplifting indie orgs and collectives, and constantly making sure filmmakers felt seen & supported. If it happened at SP in the last four years, it was Jim making it possible.

On a personal note from me and Stu: Jim brought curiosity, humour, kindness and serious smarts to it all, making working with them not just brilliant for SP but also fun for us. Open, collaborative and generous with ideas, Jim was always pushing for the best and most inclusive, version of what SP could be. And they did this while also giving a lot of time and energy to community/grassroots projects outside SP. That kind of living your values both inside and beyond the job is rare, and the collectives and communities who get Jim next are going to be very, VERY lucky.

Jim, you kept SP inventive, welcoming, rebellious, warm and properly indie. From us, and from hundreds and hundreds of Shooters over the years, thank you for everything.
