The loneliness of the long-distance writer

8 years, 6 months ago - sam connor

Hi guys,

I was just wondering how you fellow screenwriters coped with the long periods of isolation when writing. I took the step of giving up my 9 to 5 job a few years ago in order to concentrate on writing and as a consequence I hardly see anyone in the day apart from the dog! I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation.

Yep :) Social media is good - especially Twitter because it's easy to find like-minded people. I've made some good and useful friends/contacts there - let's face it, you're unlikely to come across a fellow writer in the pub. Other than that it's mainly my wife, the neighbours, the window cleaner and the postman!

Ha! Good to hear that I'm not the only one Nick! And yes, Twitter does help. Maybe we should set up a Skype community for writers :-)
