Hi Shooters,
We would love to know your top films of 2020? This could be a new release or festival film you streamed from home, a classic you re-discovered, or a film you managed to watch on the big screen post-lockdown.

You made me think back - I've not been to the cinema once this year :,-(
TV-wise, I've caught up this week with "The Little Drummer Girl", another John Le Carré TV adaptation, and it was intense. Very different from "The Night Manager", but absolutely super and unsung somehow!

Despite being locked up in my house for much of this year all I seem to have watched is episodes of The Crown or episdoes of Succession. Succession is definitely better. In fact SUCCESSION is hands down the best thing I've seen in years. It's so good just writing this is making me want to go and watch Succession. Even though I've already seen it all. Twice.
Film wise my highlight was LOCAL HERO, which came out in 1984 but I only watched last month. Sue me. It's about an oil exec trying to buy out a Scottish village. It's wonderful. I've been meaning to see it for 20 years.
Other highlights that came out this year were INVISIBLE MAN (perfect genre filmmaking) and THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD (as eccentric as it is wonderful).

The Detectorists is a lovely series to spend time with. Very calm and generous. Still on iPlayer.
Harlots: also iPlayer, for revisionist and accurate feminist history (allowing for the mental plotlines), Georgian glamour, superb actors (Samantha Morton & Lesley Manville). Plot lines stretch patience a little, but the rest of it is FAB.
Industry: taut storylines, beautifully shot and graded. Interesting insights into investment banking, an annoying resolution but good stories on the way there.
I was also late to the Britannia series by Jez & Tom Butterworth (Amazon Prime) but utterly lost myself in that.
