Tried and tested dailies distribution method

11 years ago - Stella Ramsden

Does anyone have some advice about a speedy, cheap method of distributing dailies for a feature?

I am creating the dailies in FCP 7 from Alexa 2k footage which is being shot with a 2.39 crop, so 2048x858. I'll add timecode and reel info into the letterboxing, sync the audio and then export all the dailies as one file for playback.

I thought of converting the exported file to an H.264 to then be downloaded onto tablets/laptops, but if anyone has developed a dedicated, tried and tested way of creating dailies that really works for them then I'd love to hear about it, as I'll also be putting together a rough scene assembly, so time will be precious. I know there's an application called Drylab, but I can't find any demo videos to show how this really works in practice, although it seems very straightforward, but it might be outside the production's budget, so I'm not considering that as a strong option at the moment.
