Under get people what's the difference between special effects and visual effects?

I'm currently looking for someone that can mask some special FX makeup and make it look more realistic for a 3 second shot (the cut hand in the following video)

In the end I chose the "special effects" category, as this is effectively like video photoshopping, I think it will just need a mask and some blur or something applying to a small area. But do you think there is a more appropriate section for this request?

Thanks

Hi Kristopher,

I just did a very quick google and this came up which might be of help...

'Special effects(sfx) are practical (props, make-up, animatronics, pyrotechnical, etc.), made on set during production. VFX are digital, made on a computer in post production.' I think VFX would be more suited to your needs.
