University classroom location in central London?

7 years, 8 months ago - George Brian Glennon

I'm going to be needing a modern university classroom location, and the hall outside the classroom. Preferably around central London

It has to look like a modern top university classroom. Tiered seats would be the ideal look.

I'm an alum of the LSE but there is massive construction going on there and space is tighter than usual so I haven't approached them yet, although I may yet. That would be the ideal.

They are rigid about not allowing filming in the library, where there is a spectacular circular stairway/walkway. I'm afraid I would have to have this property at a Hollywood level before I could pull that off. I'm surprised I've never seen it in major motion picture.

I could shoot day or night it doesn't matter. Two actors and nominal amount of crew.

Has anyone had experience around central getting a location like this?

If you get no joy, try looking at some institutions like the Royal Academies.

Not a bad idea Paddy, I'll keep that in mind. Somerset House could also have areas that may suffice, though it wouldn't be cheap. Not that I'm looking for cheap per se, but I'd like to keep it reasonable and still get the look.

There are so many colleges around London, though, that you should find something! Remember some 6th-form colleges will have lecture halls too

anything during teaching time is impossible, weekends can be costly and complicated as you would need a member of staff with you (just thinking about where I teach) good luck. remember they move very slowly, best bet is to find someone who is happy to act as your go between, and use them as your contact. I am assuming you have a limited budget?

We have a substantial budget for a professional proof of concept short. Much more so than a normal short film. We certainly wouldn't be attempting to shoot during the school week. Why would you assume that? That would be ludicrous. So you have assumed two things that are completely off the mark.
