Virtual production

4 years, 3 months ago - Ryan Burgoyne

Has anyone here used virtual production for their films? I’d love to hear about people’s experiences using real-time game engine tech (e.g. Unreal Engine) for production.

If not, what other methods do you use for visual effects?

Hi, I am Yuki.
I use visual effects with a software called "Nuke" , also I am learning about Nuke and Unreal Engine 5 because I am really intrigued to make a virtual produced movie in the future!

The volume is in its infancy. The main problem it has (apart from moire) is there tends to be about a 7 frame lag between the image on the LED wall and any camera moves. This means camera moves have to be carefully planned out.

Hi Ryan, There's a huge amount of innovation happening in green screen studios, combined with camera-tracking systems, and sometimes, LED lights/screens. Less sexy than the big LED volumes, perhaps, but worth investigating
